Solid Hardwood
Real wood from top to bottom. Solid hardwood can be sanded and refinished again and again, so it grows with your house instead of wearing out.
What is solid hardwood?
Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of wood, usually around three quarters of an inch thick. That thickness is the point: when it gets scratched, dented, or just tired looking, it can be sanded down and refinished, many times over its life.
It's the floor most people picture when they think of a beautiful old house, and it's still the one buyers ask about first.
- Can be refinished many times
- Adds real value at resale
- Warm, natural feel underfoot
- Huge range of species, widths, and stains

Solid Hardwood FAQ
How much does solid hardwood cost?
It depends on the species, the plank width, the square footage, the condition of your subfloor, and how many stairs and transitions are involved. We measure during the in-home visit and give you a written quote, so you're never guessing.
Can solid hardwood go in a kitchen?
Yes, plenty of kitchens have it. Spills need to be wiped up rather than left to sit, and a good finish helps. If the kitchen gets a lot of water, we'll talk through engineered hardwood or LVP as well.
How long does installation take?
Most rooms take a few days. Solid wood also needs time to acclimate to your home before it goes down. We'll give you a realistic timeline with your quote.
How often will it need refinishing?
It depends on traffic, kids, and pets. Many homes go years between refinishes, and a simple screen and recoat can refresh the finish in between.

Questions about cost?
How much does solid hardwood cost installed in Columbus?
It depends on the product you choose, the square footage and layout of your rooms, and what's underneath, such as old flooring to remove or a subfloor that needs leveling. We measure in person and give you one clear written quote, explained line by line, with no pressure to decide on the spot.
How much does new flooring cost in Columbus?
Price depends on four things: the floor itself (species, plank width and wear layer), the square footage and layout, what's underneath (old flooring removal or subfloor leveling), and extras like stairs and transitions. We measure in person and give you one clear written quote, explained line by line, with no pressure to decide on the spot.
Which floor is the most affordable?
Laminate and luxury vinyl plank usually cost less than hardwood, and engineered hardwood often comes in below solid hardwood in wide planks. The best value depends on the room: a waterproof floor in a basement can save you money down the road. We'll show you options at a few price points side by side.
Why don't you list exact prices online?
Because two homes with the same square footage can need very different work. Instead of a teaser price that changes later, we measure first and give you a written quote you can count on.
What's included in the price?
Your quote covers the flooring, installation and the details, like transitions and cleanup. Every floor also comes with the Mama Knows Best Care Package, including a care kit and a six-month professional cleaning visit, at no extra cost.
