What is laminate?
Laminate is built from a dense fiberboard core, a high resolution printed layer that gives it its look, and a clear wear layer on top. That wear layer is what makes good laminate so hard to scratch.
Newer lines are much more water resistant than the laminate of years past, and the textures are realistic enough to fool most visitors.

Is laminate waterproof?
Some newer lines are highly water resistant, but laminate is not the same as a fully waterproof vinyl plank. For bathrooms and basements we'll usually point you to LVP.
How does laminate hold up to pets?
Very well. A good wear layer stands up to claws better than many wood finishes. We'll show you the durability rating on each option.
Can laminate be refinished?
No. The look comes from a printed layer, so it can't be sanded. The upside is that it rarely needs it.
